Jägermeister literally translated means '' yacht master ''. Being a passionate hunter himself, founder Curt Mast dedicated his invention to hunters over 80 years ago. The deer head on the label refers to the legend of Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. Jägermeister contains 56 herbs, but the exact recipe has always been kept secret from the start. Each liter of Jägermeister is aged for at least one year in oak barrels. This results in a complex flavor characterized by citrus, ginger and star anise with a slightly bitter spicy undertone.
