In 1909 this Black Label was still called "Extra Special Old Highland Whiskey". It had a black and gold label (back then!) And was called "
those with the black label" by customers. Johnnie Walker Black Label owes its complexity to the blending of some 40 Scottish malts and grain whiskeys, some of which are smoky. Speyside single malt Cardhu is the heart of this whiskey. But Caol Ila van Islay is also represented. All single malts in this blend have been aged for at least 12 years and together form a soft whiskey with a rich taste full of malt and peat.
